Telugu Desam Party National President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday, accused the BJP of inciting violence in West Bengal.

He said that the BJP was trying to destabilise the state government led by Mamata Banerjee.

He blamed BJP president Amit Shah for the violence saying that he had hired “goondas (hoodlums)” for BJP’s Tuesday election during in the state. Naidu said that since Mamata Banerjee did not fear CBI, ED or Income Tax, the BJP and its “B” teams have directly brought in “goondas” into the field during elections.

“Strongly condemn the violence perpetrated by the BJP and its workers yesterday in Kolkata. After desperately trying to destabilise the state government of West Bengal through CBI, ED and IT, they are now resorting to direct violence which shows their true colours,” Naidu said in a tweet.

In another tweet, Naidu said, “Vandalising the statue of a great reformer like Sri Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar is an indication of the pseudo-nationalism practiced by the BJP. This incident underlines the need for all the opposition parties to stand united against the destructive tactics of Amit Shah-led BJP.”

“Those who do not have value for democracy or Constitution resort to such acts. I extend my solidarity to Mamata Banerjee and condemn Amit Shahs acts,” the TDP president said.

Earlier, TMC MP Derek O’Brien had also claimed that the violence was carried out by “BJP goons from outside”.

“The students were on a democratic protest with black placards. Goons of Amit Shah from outside Bengal orchestrated the violence. The video establishes Amit Shah is a liar,” said O’Brien.

“The BJP is trying to justify this act. They are giving excuses like ‘the gate was locked’. The videos establish the truth. Amit Shah is a con-master,” he added.
