The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the date for the next edition of the highly-popular Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exam. The 21st edition of the CTET exam will be conducted on 08th February, 2026, Sunday.
The CBSE said in an announcement that the CTET February 2026 exam will be conducted across India in 132 cities. Further, the exam will be held in 20 languages.
The CBSE said it will release all details related to the CTET exam including details of examination, syllabus, languages, eligibility criteria, examination fee, examination cities and important dates in an Information Bulletin which will soon be available on the official CTET website: https://ctet.nic.in.
“Aspiring candidates are requested to download Information Bulletin from above mentioned website only and read the same carefully before applying. The aspiring candidates have to apply online only through CTET website https://ctet.nic.in,” the CBSE said in the release.
The CTET 2026 test would include both Paper-1 and Paper-2. While Paper-1 tests a candidate’s skills and knowledge for teaching students of Classes 1 to 5, Paper 2 is for those aspirants who wish to teach students of Classes 6 to 8.
Keeping in mind previous CTET exam patterns, the test will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). There will be 150 questions in each paper, carrying one mark each. There will be no negative marking.
Those clearing the CTET exam are eligible to apply to schools under the Central government, including Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), and Central Tibetan Schools, as well as schools administered by the Union Territories such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu. Many unaided private schools also hire potential teachers basis their CTET scores.
