A 23-year-old youth was fatally stabbed over a monetary dispute by one of his acquaintances in North East Delhi’s Jafrabad, the Delhi Police said on Thursday.

The deceased, Fardeen, was standing near a lane, along with his friend Javed at around 12:10 am, for shelter from the rain when he saw Adil, who had borrowed Rs 2,000 from him. Soon an altercation took place between the two. When Fardeen confronted Adil about the repayment of the said amount, Adil allegedly attacked him with a knife.

As per eyewitness accounts, Adil’s brother, Kamil, and father Shakeel were reportedly present during the assault and are said to have provoked him.

After the incident, Fardeen was rushed to JPC Hospital by his father, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors, an officer said.

With this, the crime team, accompanied by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, was called to the crime scene to inspect the spot and collect evidence from there.

“A case has been registered, and police teams have been deployed to apprehend Adil and recover the weapon used in the crime,” he added.

The officer continued by saying, “Raids are being conducted at multiple locations, and efforts are underway to identify and capture the accused.”
