Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday sent a message to women that the time has come when their health should be a priority. She said if they keep well, the entire family and the nation at large will be empowered.

She said in a country like India, even women belonging to well-off families suffer from deficiencies in haemoglobin and vitamins.

Participating in the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar’ campaign at AIIMS, she said everyone should adopt a balanced diet and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Nutrition Month, also encourages all to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The CM urged greater focus on women’s empowerment, stating that they are the driving force of the country’s development and that their well-being ensures the empowerment of families, society, and the nation at large.

According to her, over hundred thousand health camps are being organised, providing women with comprehensive health check-ups completely free of cost.

She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary initiative placing the health of the nation’s women at the forefront. She noted that the mega health camp at AIIMS has been going on since 17 September, benefiting thousands of women daily.

Gupta also mentioned that the Central government has reduced GST rates on several life-saving medicines and medical devices to make healthcare more affordable, benefiting homemakers and middle-class families in particular.
