A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed fear for his life, stating that his Personal Security Officer (PSO) reports to BJP Government and his life can be ended in minutes, the Delhi unit of the BJP has written to the Delhi Police demanding that the security cover of the Delhi CM is withdrawn.

Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday, had said, “My PSO reports to BJP Government, my life can be ended in minutes. I will be murdered like former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by my PSO one day. BJP is after my life, they will murder me one day.”

Praveen Shankar Kapoor, the Delhi BJP spokesperson, on Sunday, wrote a letter to the Delhi Commissioner of Police, the Union Home Ministry and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi demanding the withdrawal of the security cover provided to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“Delhi Police should seek an apology from Arvind Kejriwal and if he does not apologise, then the Chief Minister’s security cover be withdrawn,” Kapoor wrote in the letter.

“I believe the entire security squad around Arvind Kejriwal must be facing mental depression after hearing their protectee’s statement fearing death at their hands. All security staff deployed around Arvind Kejriwal should be given psychological counselling,” Kapoor added.

Saurabh Bhardwaj, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Greater Kailash, on Saturday, had said that his party doesn’t trust the Delhi Police with the safety and security of Chief Minister Kejriwal.

“After becoming the Chief Minister he has been attacked at least six times in the presence of police. Even after such incidents, no action was taken. We don’t trust Delhi Police,” said Bhardwaj.

Earlier this month, Kejriwal was slapped by a man while he was doing a roadshow in the Moti Nagar area of the city and the incident was captured on camera.
