Rain lashed several parts of Delhi and NCR on Tuesday leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls in multiple areas, including the south and southwest parts of the city.

Some parts of Lutyens’ Delhi were also affected by the accumulation of water following hours of downpour.

A stretch of Janpath Road was also reportedly waterlogged, with rain water entering several shops along the route. The road that connects Janpath with Jantar Mantar was equally affected by waterlogging. The affected stretch falls under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and lies less than 500 meters from Parliament House.

As per the data shared by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain accompanied by a thunderstorm was reported from Gurugram.

The Met Department has issued a yellow alert for the National Capital and NCR for the rest of the day anticipating more showers.

The minimum temperature in the capital settled at 26 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year. The maximum is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius.

Relative humidity was recorded at 83 per cent at 8:30 am, the IMD said.

The weather department forecast also indicated that light rain will continue through the week, with weather conditions expected to remain similar until July 28.

Meanwhile, the city’s air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 103, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). An AQI between 101 and 200 is classified as moderate.
