In a major IPS reshuffle on Monday, Vikramjit Singh, a senior officer of 2006 batch, was appointed the new chief of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB). He will replace Madhur Verma, who has been shifted to the Delhi Police as the joint commissioner of police (Central Range).
During Verma’s tenure as ACB chief, multiple FIRs of various cases involving several AAP leaders, such as former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, former health ministers Satyendar Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, were registered. The cases included the alleged Rs 2,000-crore classroom graft case.
Singh previously served as the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) for Outer District, DCP at Police Headquarters, and as the Joint Commissioner of Police for the New Delhi Range.
Special Commissioner Rajesh Khurana has been appointed as the managing director of the Delhi Police Housing Corporation Ltd., while Neeraj Thakur of the 1994 batch, who earlier held this position, has now been posted as special commissioner of police, provisioning & finance division, with additional charge of vigilance.
Meanwhile, Special CP Garima Bhatnagar, also of the same batch, has been posted as the chief of the Economic Offences Wing.
Additionally, Dheeraj Kumar has been moved to the Armed Police to take charge as joint commissioner of police from the Delhi Police Academy, where he was serving as director.
Similarly, MN Tiwari, who had held that post, has now been appointed as Joint CP, Security.
AV Deshpande, who continues as Joint CP, operations (PCR & communication), has also been given the additional charge of licensing.
Nupur Prasad, IPS, who was heading the licensing unit, has now been shifted as Joint CP, EOW.
The reshuffle also includes changes at the DANIPS level, as Jagdev Singh has been transferred from Additional DCP, security, to Additional DCP, East District, while Sunil has been moved to North-West District in the same rank. Abhishek Gupta, who was ACP, Model Town, has been promoted as Additional DCP, Security.
