A 28-year-old Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) committed suicide reportedly because he was not allowed to enter the examination hall and write his exam on Sunday.
According to reports, the authorities denied entry to the aspirant because he reached the centre late. The student, who was identified as Varun, allegedly committed suicide in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi.
Police have recovered a suicide note from his room. In the note, Varun talked about rules and how there should be some leniency. He also mentioned that he was denied entry into the examination centre after which he decided to take the drastic step.
“The rules are fine but there should be some leniency,” read the note, according to a report in India Today.
Karnataka resident Varun reportedly used to live in a rented accommodation in Rajendra Nagar and he had to go to the centre at Paharganj to appear for the examination on Sunday. As he got late in reaching the centre, he was turned away by the authorities.
Investigation in the matter is under way, said the Delhi Police.
The Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2018 was conducted on June 3 by UPSC at various test centres across the country.
