UP’s wanted criminal shot dead in encounter

A dreaded criminal carrying a  cash reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head was killed in an encounter with the police in Secunderabad area of Bulandshahar district on Sunday night.
Praveen alias Kalia of Prannagar village of Secunderabad area was wanted in more than a dozen cases of loot, robbery and murder, said Praveen Kumar, SP (City) of Bulandshahar.
At around 1 am on Sunday,  cops were on a routine checking at Jokhabad police post when a swift car arrived there and broke the barrier. The cops on duty flashed the incident on wireless and stared chasing  the car, the SP city said.
As the police parties gheraoed the vehicle, the car occupants exchanged fire with the police in which one person died, while his aide managed to escape in the darkness.
The slain person was later identified as Praveen. Police  have recovered a revolver on the body. The car has also been impounded.
