While the State Government has claimed to implement cent to cent percent schemes and introducing a number of projects development for the backward section of the people in rural pocket, these fail to reach the remote pockets of the district where people continue to struggle for basic amenities. A case in point is Polashmunduli, a tribal populated village under Moroda constituency.

Since Independence the tribal people in the village do not have basic facilities like electricity, drinking water, road or health care services. Not a single person of the village has a government or private job. They are wage earners or sell sal leaf to sustain their families. No official has ever visited the village, complained the tribals.

Villagers alleged that they have used their private land for their communication due to lack of government road. Ambulance service in case of emergency is yet to touch the village. A narrow route Khuruntia Chhowk passing through the crop land is the only connectivity and even this is cut off during monsoon.

Bijay Soren a 80 year-old citizen said he has not been covered under any social security scheme – neither the pension nor the housing scheme. Budhiram Soren said the villagers had drawn the attention of the block development officer but to no avail. On the education front, there is no school in the village or event an anganwadi centre.

Children trek oneand- half km every day along the narrow road to the anganwadi centre in the neighboring village Jhinkria. The villagers use water from a pit and a stream nearby . A government installed tube-well has been defunct since nine years.
