Telangana rural body chief arrested for kicking woman in chest over land dispute

In a shocking incident, a public representative in Telangana was filmed kicking a woman in the chest over a civil dispute, after she hit him with a ‘chappal’ over a land issue on Sunday.

Police in Telangana’s Nizamabad district on Monday arrested the Mandal Parishad President (MPP) Immadi Gopi for kicking the woman.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Dharpally Mandal president Immadi Gopi kicking the woman in full public view.

Police has registered a case against Gopi under various sections of the Indian Penal Code based on the woman’s complaint.

Gopi, who belongs to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), has been charged with assaulting the woman, A Rajavva, and criminal intimidation.

The MPP, a former Maoist, kicked Rajavva in front of the public after she hit him with a sandal on Sunday.

The incident has triggered widespread condemnation after a video clip went viral on social media.

Gopi also filed a counter complaint following which the police also booked the woman and her relatives for trespass and damaging his property.
