On a day, RJD chief Lalu Prasad was sentenced to five years in jail in a fodder scam case, his son and Bihar Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav rushed to the Raj Bhawan and demanded dismissal of the “illegitimate” NDA government in Bihar headed by chief minister Nitish Kumar, citing collapse in law and order situation and alarming rise in cases of corruption.

Barely a day back, Madhepura MP, Pappu Yadav had sought for imposition of President’s Rule in Bihar on similar grounds.

Tejashwi who headed a delegation of RJD leaders met Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik shortly before the special CBI court in Ranchi delivered its judgment in the case, and submitted a three-page memorandum, narrating a series of incidents related to both crime and corruption. He urged the governor to sack the ruling Nitish Kumar government in the state and save the democracy.

“Let aside stopping repression of poor, Dalits and minorities, it is, instead, encouraging such forces to commit crime. We, therefore, request you to take a historic decision to dismiss the present government in the interest of humanity, society, state and the country as a whole,” the Opposition leader said in his memorandum. He said a government has no right to stay in office if it fails to protect the lives of the masses.

Tejashwi cited the collapse of law and order situation in the state and mentioned in details how the Dalit villagers in Buxur were tortured, implicated in fake cases and sent to jail after attack on the CM’s convoy. He mentioned how a Dalit villager Puran Chero was tortured to death in police custody and not even his body was handed over to his family and alleged the incidents of kidnapping, robbery and extortion have now become order of the day.

“The repression of Dalits, backwards and minority community people began soon after the NDA came to power in July last. The cases of tortures reached an alarming level in the first fortnight of the illegitimate government coming to power and the records prove BJP-JD-U people were involved there,” he alleged.

Tejashwi who served as the deputy chief minister in the previous Grand Alliance government alleged that scores of scams have flooded Bihar soon after the BJP joined the Nitish Kumar government and said such cases couldn’t be independently probed till the present government continues. “Srijan scam, toilet scam, Dustbin scam, BPSC lecture recruitment scam and LED scam involve people holding top positions in the government,” he alleged.

On Tuesday, Madhepura MP Pappu Yadav had met the governor and sought for imposition of President’s Rule in Bihar saying the common men have lost faith in the present government formed by “misusing” people’s mandate.

“The State government’s own website confirms such corruptions. The government doesn’t deserve to stay in office even for a single moment and must be sacked,” Tejashwi told newsmen soon after meeting the governor and handing over a memorandum to the latter.
