Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated the Swadeshi Utsav at the iconic Kartavya Path, India Gate, organized by the Delhi Government.
The initiative, Gupta said, is a celebration of the country’s self-confidence, self-respect, culture and traditions.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Gupta said, “I feel that for today’s India to become self-reliant, and to strengthen the identity, there is no better medium than Swadeshi.”
She said that promoting Swadeshi must be taken up as a campaign, and the word must be spread across the nation.
Taking to social media platform X, Gupta stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people of the nation to adopt Swadeshi (domestic produce) as it is not just about buying locally manufactured products, but also adopting the hard work, talent and identity of one’s own country.
Addressing people, the CM said that this Diwali, everyone must resolve that this Diwali must be a ‘Swadeshi’ Diwali.
Gupta has said that everything here, like the Swadeshi earthen lamps, symbolize the hard work of the country’s artisans, and they have the fragrance of the country’s soil.
She further said that the purchase of country-made products is a step towards a self-reliant nation.
Delhi’s industries minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and several other officials were present on the occasion.
The Delhi government is also working on reviving the village industries of the national capital by bringing reforms in the Delhi Khadi and Village Industries Board.
The government has been working to explore various possibilities to promote the older crafts and traditional products of the region.
Work is also being done on identifying what can be future prospects of the products and how the present and future technology support the artisans and the local producers in their respective fields
