The police arrested a youth, who has been accused of killing his parents and elder brother in Maidan Garhi, officials said on Thursday.
The cops mentioned that the accused, identified as Siddharth (22), was arrested when he was trying to take his own life by jumping off the terrace of the AIIMS Metro Station building. The alert security guards stationed managed to prevent him from doing so and handed him to the police.
The deceased have been identified as Prem Singh (around 45-50), his wife Rajani (40-45), and their elder son Ritik (24).
Ankit Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, in his statement, mentioned, “During the brief questioning with Siddharth about his suicide attempt, he confessed to having brutally murdered his parent and elder brother.”
“After his confession, he was immediately taken to the Maidan Garhi police station,” DCP Chauhan mentioned.
According to sources, the accused is currently being interrogated by police officers to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder.
On Wednesday, the DCP said that the accused is suspected of having some mental health issues. Further claiming that, they also have recovered documents and medicines showing Siddharth has been under psychiatric treatment for the past 12 years at multiple mental health institutions.
During initial investigation into this case, it was revealed that Siddharth had been undergoing psychiatric treatment and allegedly told someone that he had killed all three of his family members and that he ‘would not stay here anymore.’
On the condition of anonymity, an officer said, “The records that have been recovered show that he was undergoing treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and aggressive behavior for more than a decade.”
Further adding to his statement that his history of psychiatric treatment suggests long-standing behavioral issues.
Further investigation into his case is ongoing by the police team, DCP Chauhan said.
