Municipal corporations of  Gurugram and Faridabad will develop Haryana’s first Integrated solid waste management project.
This integrated project, costing over Rs 430 Crore, would use industry leading technology to collect, transport, process and dispose daily waste quantity of over 1,250 tonnes per day from both Gurugram and Faridabad regions. Both corporations signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the same on Friday.
This is the first project in the country bided on Output Based Incentive (OBI) concept of Public-Private-Partnership (PPP)model. This technology would not only process waste but also generate a minimum of daily 10 Mega Watt (MW) of energy from refuse derived fuel (RDF) combustion.
An official spokesperson said that this would be one of the biggest projects of its kind in the country with integrated solid waste management activities including collection, transportation, processing and disposal of the solid waste along with setting up of waste to energy power plant in due course.
Ecogreen Energy Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of China Jinjiang Environment Holding Company Ltd, one of the largest and experienced waste to energy companies in Asia, has been identified as the preferred vendor through an international competitive bid process to roll out the solid waste management project.
Ecogreen energy will also segregate the municipal solid waste into  RDF and compost and use only RDF for power generation for the proposed waste to energy power plant. The estimated daily power generation would be a minimum of 10MW.
A significant step towards the Clean India drive under Swachh Bharat campaign, this project is estimated to process daily waste quantity from both the urban local bodies, along with the existing waste at the Bandhwari landfill site situated in the Aravalli hills.
As a part of the MOU, Municipal Corporation Faridabad has nominated and authorised Municipal Corporation of Gurugram as its duly and legally constituted representative to represent it in all matters related to implementation of the project in the Faridabad cluster and management and enforcement of the agreement.
