Bijoyar Pore (Autumn Flies) marks a proud and historic milestone for Siliguri as the first-ever Bengali feature film from the region to be produced on such a grand cinematic scale. The film features internationally acclaimed artists and has already achieved recognition both nationally and globally, turning it into more than just a movie.
Presented by Siliguri-based producer Sujit Raha and directed by Abhijit SriDas, the film stars Padma Shri Mamata Shankar, Swastika Mukherjee, and Deepankar De. It has already earned praise at multiple prestigious festivals. The producers announced in Siliguri on Thursday that the film will be re-released in its hometown. Screenings are scheduled twice daily till 20 July at Dinabandhu Mancha.
This return to Siliguri is more than symbolic. It is a celebration of the city’s growing voice in cinema. Rooted in the emotional and cultural soil of north Bengal, the film reflects both cinematic excellence and local artistic potential.
Sujit Raha and Abhijit SriDas have long been committed to telling stories that celebrate North Bengal’s culture while exploring universal human emotions. Raha, in particular, has played a consistent and tireless role in promoting grassroots art and social development in the region. His work has helped bring forward many hidden artistic voices.
Bijoyar Pore is a moving psychological drama set against the vibrant backdrop of Durga Puja. It explores themes of memory, family, tradition, and reconciliation. Padma Shri Mamata Shankar was recently honoured with the Filmfare Award Bangla 2025 (Critics Choice) for her performance in the film.
The film has been featured in more than 16 national and international festivals, including the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival, the 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival (where it won the Best Audience Choice Award), the 10th Jaffna International Cinema Festival in Sri Lanka, and the 20th Third Eye Asian Film Festival in Mumbai, where Mamata Shankar won Best Actress.
