A shop owner was allegedly shot in the leg by a group of men following a scuffle in southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, police said on Saturday.
The victim, identified as 32-year-old Furkan, sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
“The matter came to light when the police were informed about a firing incident around 10:08 pm at the Nizamuddin police station,” a senior police officer said.
A team was immediately dispatched to the scene, and an investigation was initiated.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Furkan, along with his brothers Waseem (33) and Abdul Khalid (30), runs a shop named ‘Qibla Perfumes,’ where the incident occurred.
Around 10 pm, their former tenant, Ehsaan, reportedly arrived with a few associates and got into an altercation with Waseem.
During the scuffle, one of the assailants pulled out a revolver and fired three shots, one of which struck Furkan in the leg.
He was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment, officials said.
The crime team, along with forensic experts, arrived at the scene and recovered three empty cartridges and two live rounds.
According to police, Furkan and his brothers had recently asked Ehsaan to vacate the shop premises, which he had rented. He complied around 15 days ago, and the shooting is suspected to be linked to that dispute.
Legal proceedings are underway, and based on leads gathered during the investigation, the identities of the accused have been established. Raids are being conducted to apprehend them, the officer added.
