UP shocker: Patient’s amputated leg used as pillow in Jhansi hospital

In a shocking incident, the severed leg of a patient was allegedly used as a pillow at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College in Jhansi. A picture regarding the incident has surfaced which shows the victim resting his head on his amputated leg.

The victim had met with an accident after which he was taken to the hospital. His leg was amputated, reportedly, to stop the infection from spreading in the body.

According to some media reports, a probe has been ordered by the UP government after the video of the incident went viral.

Minister for medical education, Ashutosh Tandon suspended emergency medical officer Dr Mahendra Pal Singh, senior resident Dr Alok Agarwal and on duty sisters Deepa Narang and Shashi Srivastava.

A departmental enquiry has been ordered against one of the doctors in the medical negligence case.

Deputy Chief Minister of the state Dinesh Sharma that the action will be taken once the government receives proper information about the incident.

Media reports suggest that a four-member committee has already been constituted to probe the matter. The head of the department of surgery Dr Rajeev Sinha will head the committee. The committee is supposed to submit the report in 48 hours.

Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College principal Sadhna Kaushik has, reportedly, assured strict action against those found guilty.
