State Government has declared a gazetted holiday on 21 October, which is the poll day, for the registered voters of Dharamshala and Pachhad Assembly constituencies on account of bye-election. According to the notification issued, the gazetted holiday will be applicable to all such government offices Boards, Corporations, Educational Institutions and Industrial Establishments situated in Himachal Pradesh to exercise their right of franchise, said a government spokesperson.

The above holiday will also be a special paid holiday under Section 25 of Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, he added.

This will be a paid holiday to the daily waged employees and also within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiation Instruments Act, 1881, said he.

It is, clarified that above special casual leave or special paid holiday  may be given to those employees who are working in different places in the state but have a right to vote in the other Vidhan Sabha Constituencies, only on the production of certificate of the concerned Presiding Officer that the employee has actually cast his or her vote, said the spokesperson.
