Severe thunderstorm activity over northeast India, West Bengal for next 3 days

Weather advisory of severe thunderstorm activity and heavy rainfall over east and northeast India has been issued by the Ministry of Earth Sciences on Monday.

A cyclonic circulation lies over east Bihar and in adjoining West Bengal, Jharkhand state and a trough runs from this cyclonic circulation to Manipur across Meghalaya in lower levels, a ministry statement said.

Scattered to widespread rainfall and thunderstorm activity are very likely over east and northeast India during next 3-4 days, said the statement.

According to the ministry, for the next three days (1 May, 2 May and 3 May) thunderstorm accompanied with squall/hail very likely at isolated places over West Bengal and Sikkim.

Heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal, the ministry said.
