Sana Mir and Usain Bolt named ambassadors of ICC T20 WC Qualifier 2024
Former Pakistan skipper Sana Mir and eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt have been named as the ambassadors of women’s and men’s ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024.
Separatist Mirwaiz Umer Farooq cheered the Pakistan cricket team when it defeated England in the semi-finals of the ICC Championship Trophy on Wednesday.
The Mirwaiz, who is generally considered a moderate among the hardliners in Kashmir, was the first to express his joy on winning of the Pakistan team.
He failed to hide his pro-Pakistan sentiments and tweeted “As we were finishing taraweeh,could hear the fire crackers bursting, well played team #Paksitan. Best of luck for the finals!”

As the pro-Pakistan separatists burst into rejoicing victory of the Pakistan team, many people downtown came out bursting crackers and raising slogans in favour of the Pakistani team.
Reports of people celebrating the victory were also received from some areas of South Kashmir. The Pakistani media has published reports of celebrations in the valley.
The ruling PDP of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has tried to downplay the celebrations by the separatist leader and others by stating not to pay heed to the tweet of Mirwaiz and acknowledge those who cheer for India.
