Delhi’s social welfare minister Ravinder Indraj on Monday directed officials concerned that for effective pollution control, it is essential to seal all the unauthorized factories and industrial units.

Notably, the unauthorised industries that do not comply with the pollution norms, contribute to the pollution significantly.

Indraj, who is also the minister-in- charge for North West Delhi on Monday instructed strict action against units violating environmental norms, while he conducted an inspection in the Bhaktawarpur ward area, in North West Delhi.

During the inspection, he held a joint review with officials from MCD, DDA, Delhi Jal Board, PWD and other departments concerned regarding complaints from locals over sanitation, road repair, sewerage, water drainage, and unauthorized industrial activities.

He directed the departments concerned to take immediate action over people’ grievances and ensure relief to the public.

The MCD was directed to ensure regular sanitation services in unauthorized colonies, along with regular lifting of garbage, cleaning, and door-to-door waste collection.

He also instructed that no garbage dumps should be allowed to accumulate and special monitoring should be maintained.

The PWD officials were asked to repair damaged roads, and gave clear instructions for repair of the potholes in the area.

Indraj warned against any kind of negligence in work, and asserted that strict action should be taken.

Notably, he also directed to complete works under the Gramoday Yojana, adding that it should happen at the earliest.

The minister assured locals that all the shortcomings identified during the inspection would be resolved soon.

He reiterated that the government’s objective is to ensure that every village and every ward in Delhi avails the basic services, adding that negligence at any level will not be tolerated.

He also sought public support to cooperate with the government, stating that joint efforts of the regime and the citizens can strengthen the sanitation system and ensure success in pollution control measures.
