BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra came down heavily on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his ‘double speak’ on Mahanadi water issue.

Addressing media persons on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state to present the achievements of his government on completion of four years, Sambit Patra said in the state Assembly the chief minister says there is enough water and outside he says Mahanadi has gone dry.

Patra pointed out that the central government had repeatedly tried to resolve the dispute through talks , but Odisha CM remained adamant . He clearly wants to drag the problem till elections to somehow gain political milege, chided Patra.

What was the CM doing over the last 15 years, why does he raise the issue before elections, countered Patra. On Congress Party’s decision to observe the completion of four years of Narendra Modi’s government at the centre on 26 May as “Betrayal Day”, Mr.Patra said the Congress which had ruled the country for 70 years has betrayed the people by misappropriating money to the tune of Rs 14 to 15 lakh crore in various scams.

Patra went on to list out achievements of the Modi government and claimed that the NDA government had transformed the country and won the confidence of all people both at the national and international level.

Corruption is no longer heard at the central government level, GDP growth was over 7.4 percent and crores of bank accounts have been opened.

He spoke of the housing scheme, toilet construction drive, highways, electricity to all etc. The PM will be here to present his report card to the people, something which CM Naveen Patnaik has never done in the past 18 years, he remarked.
