Suri court on Thursday pronounced two Trinamul Congress supporters ~ Subrata Roy alias Shuba and Bhagirath Ghosh ~ as guilty in the murder case of Trinamul Congress leader Sagar Ghosh.

On 21 July 2013, Ghosh was shot at from a close range by some persons at his home in Parui. His son, Hriday Ghosh, had contested as an independent candidate in gram panchayat polls against the official Trinamul Congress candidate.

The incident rocked the state at that time after the deceased’s daughter- in- law, Shibani Ghosh, lodged an FIR against 44 persons at Parui police station in Birbhum.

The first name in that FIR was of district Trinamul Congress president Anubrata Mondal. Out of the 47 witnesses, one person died and two have become hostile in this case.

After five years, district judge Partha Sarathi Ghosh have found two persons guilty. He will give his judgment on Friday. Both the Trinamool Congress supporters, however, claimed to be innocent.

However, in this year’s gram panchayat polls, Hriday Ghosh have been allotted a ticket by the ruling Trinamool Congress in Parui. His mother, Ms Saraswati Ghosh, said that the family hopes that court will deliver justice to them.
