A joint Shiromani Akali Dal- Bharatiya Janata Party (SADBJP) delegation on Tuesday urged Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore dismiss the Congress government for violating its oath of office by conspiring with radical elements to divide the country.

Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar, however, said the law and order situation in Punjab is totally under control and the SAD-BJP are themselves the major threat to the peace and harmony of state as both could do anything to achieve their vested political interest.

The joint SAD-BJP delegation, which was led by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and BJP state president Shwet Malik, also urged the Governor to direct the state government to take strict action against self styled Jathedars who were dancing to the tune of antinational forces and conspiring to push the state back into an era of darkness.

It also urged the Governor to warn the Congress government that it was playing with fire by inciting religious sentiments by supporting and colluding with radical elements. The delegation requested the Governor to direct the Congress government not to create a false religious conflict, saying this would be detrimental to the hard won peace of Punjab.

The SAD president Sukhbir Badal said the Congress government was not only trying to muzzle the voice of democracy in the state through repressive Emergency like dictates like banning rallies, but also playing a dangerous game to weaken the SAD and Sikh institutions like Sri Akal Takth and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in league with radical elements.

He said even though the high court had given appropriate relief to the SAD and upheld democratic values; the Congress government had allowed separatists to hold sham protests under police protection in Faridkot on the day of the 16 September rally. He said police also remained a mute spectator when SAD activists and vehicles were attacked by the same extremist elements.

Responding this, Punjab Congress president Jakhar said before raising question on the present law and order situation in the state, SAD-BJP leaders must have to recall their own tenure of last 10 years.

He said that the situation of law and order in the state is completely peaceful now and no major incident has happened anywhere, even Congress government has also resolved the so many untraced cases which had took place during pervious SAD-BJP rule and posed serious threat to law and order in the state such as sacrileges of Guru Granth Sahib and assassination of RSS leaders.

Jakhar reminded the SAD president said during his government people were thrashed in such a way that common man has no democratic rights during their rule.

Describing the Akali regime as a ‘goonda raj’ he said that the police was not even safe and anti-social elements were roaming without any fear of government machinery in the state.

He said that the leaders of SAD and BJP, who were shocked by their apparent seen losses in Block Samitis and Zila Parishad elections, are now blaming such baseless allegations.
