Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday welcomed the decision of the state government to completely waive the late payment surcharge on water bills of the domestic consumers.

Congratulating the people of Delhi, Sachdeva alleged that the previous government had exploited city’s residents in the name of water bills, but the present BJP government has put a stop to it.

He claimed that within just eight months of being elected, the BJP-led government has fulfilled yet another election promise.

Sachdeva especially congratulated the Rekha Gupta-led government for implementing the unauthorized connection regularization scheme, adding that despite demands from residents of unauthorized colonies for the past 10 years, Aam Aadmi Party leaders did not bring any such scheme, forcing poor people to illegally connect to water and electricity.

Now, the government has decided to provide connections for just Rs 1,000 by reducing the regularization penalty from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,000, which the BJP leader called a commendable step.

The BJP leader said that the government in Delhi is a regime of the people, and it continues to make public-oriented decisions to accelerate the city’s development.

He alleged that for the last 11 years, the previous Arvind Kejriwal government left no stone unturned in making Delhi a mess.

Sachdeva further said that now, the people of Delhi have entrusted the BJP with governance, and the dispensation is working diligently with the mandate.

The Delhi BJP chief urged everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and get their connections regularized.

He emphasized that the BJP government is continuously working for the betterment of Delhi, and with the cooperation of the central government, the city’s development is moving at double the pace.
