As part of the ongoing Van Mahotsav 2025 celebrations, Delhi on Monday witnessed a special plantation drive featuring the participation of eminent religious leaders and members of the Supreme Court Bar Association. The event was held under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at the President’s Bodyguard Ground in Delhi Ridge.
Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed the gathering that tree plantation events are being held at 70 locations across the city. “From religious leaders to legal luminaries, from celebrities to common citizens—people from all walks of life are coming forward voluntarily,” he said.
Sirsa emphasized that public participation is crucial to making Delhi greener and its air cleaner. He urged every resident of the city to plant a sapling.
The minister further stated that the movement is gaining momentum with active participation from students, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), civil society groups, and market associations.
According to an official document, several religious leaders from prominent Hindu and Sikh temples including Kalkaji Mandir, Valmiki Mandir, Birla Mandir, Akshardham Mandir, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, and Sheeshganj Sahib Gurudwara joined the greening initiative by planting saplings in memory of their mothers.
Among the legal luminaries who participated in the plantation drive were Vikas Singh, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association; Pragya Baghel, Secretary of the Bar Association; and Senior Advocate Alok Dhir.
