Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday held an interaction with members of the Rajasthani community in Coimbatore, describing their journey of resilience, enterprise, and trust as deeply inspiring for the entire nation.
She said she was delighted to be among the Rajasthani families and thank them for the affection and respect with which they welcomed her. “Courage and valour are part of Rajasthan’s identity, and the same spirit is clearly visible here. The women of this community are equally strong and determined,” she noted.
Referring to several prominent members present at the event, Gupta said the families that have lived in Coimbatore for decades have, through sheer hard work and commitment, made a significant contribution to both the city and the state.
Recalling her earlier visit, she said many families have been settled here for over 50 years, with newer generations now born and raised in the city. “They have made Coimbatore their home and, through their dreams and determination, helped take it to new heights,” Gupta added.
The chief minister emphasised that the sustained efforts of the Rajasthani community have not only strengthened their businesses but also contributed meaningfully to Tamil Nadu’s economic stability and growth. “The progress of any state is driven by trade and industry,” CM Gupta said while sharing her administrative perspective.
She added that it is the contribution of traders and industrialists that generates tax revenue, which in turn enables governments to build roads, flyovers, infrastructure, schools, colleges and hospitals.
Highlighting the role of the Central government, Gupta said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, entrepreneurship has received a major boost, ease of doing business has improved, and a clear vision for a developed India has emerged. She noted that the Centre has worked towards balanced development across the country from Kanyakumari to Jammu & Kashmir, and from Gujarat to the Northeast without discrimination.
Calling PM Modi’s vision both expansive and inclusive, Gupta said, “He looks at every citizen and every region with equal concern.”
She added that even though Tamil Nadu does not have a BJP government, the state continues to receive substantial financial support from the Centre, and pointed to the rapid expansion of expressways, highways, railway infrastructure and healthcare facilities across the country.
