Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth will play an active role in the International Yoga Daymain event, to be hosted in Dehradun on 21 June. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the function and the Yoga Guru’s organisation has started elaborate preparations. The PM will perform Yoga with 60,000 participants at the Forest Research Institute.
Patanjali Yogpeeth will be conducting Yoga classes at over one hundred different places in Dehradun and Vikasnagar to train participants for the event to be hosted in Dehradun. As part of the preparation, Baba Ramdev conducted Yoga classes at a curtain raiser programme in Dehradun on Thursday.
Ramdev made hundreds of participants do yoga. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Union Minister of State for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik, Uttarakhand Ayush Minister Dr Harak Singh Rawat, Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarath Niketan and others participated. The event was held at B R Ambedkar stadium in Dehradun .
Trivendra Rawat said, “Yoga has to be taken to people since Yoga is a way to make the world disease free. In Indian culture it is said “ Sarve Bhuvante Sukhin: Sarve Bhuvantu Niramaya” which is apt for yoga. Yoga originated from Uttarakhand.”
The CM said through the efforts of PM Modi the entire world has recognised the power of yoga and June 21 is being celebrated as International Yoga Day. He said Modi is working to join the entire world through yoga.
Dehradun has been selected for hosting the national function of the International Yoga Day. The event will help Dehradun and Uttarakhand figure on the international horizon. The CM made an appeal to people to participate in big numbers.
Union minister Shripad Yesso Naik said, “The national programme on the International Yoga Day is being held in Uttarakhand in Dehradun on June 21. Earlier, similar international Yoga Day celebrations had been held been held successfully in New Delhi, Chandigarh and Lucknow.”
The curtain raiser event witnessed big participation of Yoga enthusiasts at the ONGC ground. Baba Ramdev said, “People across the world do yoga on International Yoga Day. It is a matter of privilege that Prime Minister has given priority to Dehradun, Uttarakhand for holding the main function of the International Yoga day. There is need to prepare environment for spread of Yoga.”
The International Yoga Day function will be held at Forest Research Institute campus from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on 21 June. Patanjali Yogpeeth, Devsanskriti University, Art of Living, Parmarath Niketan, Brahamkumaris, other organisations are providing support for the conduct of the mega event in Dehradun. Free yoga training at Dehradun and Haridwar is being provided to the participants so that there is uniformity in the conduct of the main event on 21 June.
