The Railway Ministry has directed the concerned authorities to undertake a site inspection at Badli Railway Station regarding the construction of a Railway Over Bridge (ROB), after the issue of traffic congestion was highlighted by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.

According to Gupta’s office, he had written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeking the construction of an ROB at Badli to ease traffic congestion in the area.

In a prompt and decisive response to the public infrastructure concern in North-West Delhi, the Railway Minister, through an official communication addressed to the Speaker, conveyed that railway authorities have been directed to conduct a site inspection at Badli Railway Station.

The proposed ROB aims to establish a crucial connectivity link between Badli Railway Station and Rohini Sector 18 Metro Station (T-Point), thereby facilitating smoother traffic flow and significantly easing the daily commute for residents.

Gupta, in his communication to the Railway Minister, had forwarded a letter received from Aahir Deepak Chaudhary, MLA from Badli, requesting urgent construction of the ROB to address severe traffic congestion in the Rohini area.

The Speaker pointed out that the existing underpass was constructed when the population of the area was much lower and is now unable to handle the present volume of traffic.

He further stated that residents of Rohini who work in Samaypur, Siraspur and Libaspur are compelled to cross this stretch daily and face hardships due to traffic jams lasting up to two to three hours, especially during peak hours.

Gupta also underlined that the construction of the ROB would enhance connectivity with UER-II and national highways, and requested that the matter be taken up on priority in the larger public interest.

The issue had been brought to Gupta’s notice through a representation highlighting the worsening traffic congestion in the area, affecting thousands of residents, commuters and essential services daily.

He added that it was concerning that even DTC buses, ambulances and fire services are frequently caught in prolonged traffic gridlocks, posing risks to public safety and causing significant disruption to daily movement.
