The pro-Pakstan Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir were caught in an embarrassing situation when they were accused of playing politics over the bodies of Kashmiri youth and inciting stone-pelters by a relative of Qaiser Ahmad, who was last week killed after being run over by a CRPF vehicle that was under mob attack in downtown Nowhatta in Srinagar.

A team of Hurriyat leaders dispatched by Syed Ali Shah Geelani to express sympathy with the bereaved family was caught unawares when a relative of Qaisar Ahmad questioned the role of separatists in flaring up violence in Kashmir.

A video of the relative lambasting the Hurriyat delegation went viral on Monday.

The relative of Qaisar Ahmad asked them not to incite stone pelters because of such incidents the youth were suffering.

He said it was unfortunate that the body of Qaisar was displayed to fuel violence on the streets of Kashmir.

The man was seen in the video accusing Geelani of playing double standards by describing separatist Shabir Shah’s daughter, Sama Shah, a student of DPS, as a “role model” for having topped the 12th class examination and on the other hand asking Kashmiris to not send their children to Christian missionary schools.

“Why did Geelani tell us not to send our children to Christian schools?” the man asks. “Even I was ready to die for Geelani Sahib. He used to say that don’t send your schools to Christian missionary schools. This is Geelani Sahab’s statement. The same Geelani sahib is saying he congratulates the stone pelters. He says they are role models for youth and students,” the man is seen telling the Hurriyat delegation.

“Those who don’t even know what is Shahadat, they will continue this so-called fight. The person who should be buried after his death, his body has been kept on the streets to fuel passions. Is this your fight? Two sisters of Qaiser are unaware of the politics that was played on his body and his burial was delayed only because of that. Is this the Nizam-e-Mustafa you want to introduce?” asks the man.

The man went on to say that lakhs of people in Kashmir are now afraid of Hurriyat.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Majlis Shoora of the Hurriyat Conference in Srinagar on Monday termed the talks offer of Home Minister Rajnath Singh as a “farce” just to hoodwink the international community.

The meeting of the Shoora was presided by Ghulam Nabi Sumji, who is a trusted lieutenant of Geelani.

A spokesman of the Hurriyat said that the meeting took stock of the prevailing political situation in the state and also deliberated on various issues pertaining to activating different departments of the forum, to have more and more contact with the people who vehemently support the “legitimate struggle” for the right to self-determination.

The meeting condemned the recent increase in the civil killings, incarceration of youth and ill-treatment meted out to the detunes in and outside jails of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Shoora alleged that whenever India faces a tough situation related to human rights violations at international level, they start parroting of dialogue and ceasefire.
