A suicide note recovered after the death of a Pune-based Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee has led to a criminal case against three individuals, including two of his colleagues, with police investigating allegations of prolonged workplace harassment.
The case pertains to Amit Abhay Brahme, 48, an employee at TCS’s Hinjewadi facility, who was found dead at his residence in Pimpri-Chinchwad on June 2. His family has alleged that sustained humiliation, professional isolation and mental pressure pushed him to take the extreme step.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Yadav said an FIR had been registered after investigators examined a detailed note left behind by Brahme.
“A TCS employee, identified as Amit Abhay Brahme, committed suicide on June 2. Based on his detailed suicide note, an FIR has been registered against three people, including two TCS employees. He wrote that he was subjected to repeated insults and mental harassment. Investigation is underway,” Yadav said.
According to police, the complaint was filed on June 9 by Brahme’s 19-year-old son, Anish Brahme.
The FIR names two TCS employees, identified as Archana and Shashwati. They have been booked in connection with allegations linked to abetment of suicide.
Family alleges professional isolation and pressure
The complainant alleged that Brahme had been facing mental distress for an extended period. The complaint alleged that Brahme had been pushed to the sidelines at work, with important assignments taken away from him. His family said he was repeatedly humiliated, urged to resign and threatened with adverse reviews of his performance.
The family has also accused one of the employees of initiating false criminal complaints against Brahme and issuing legal notices that allegedly intensified his distress.
According to the complaint, defamatory communications were also circulated within the company. One of the accused employees allegedly sent emails to TCS that sought to damage Brahme’s reputation.
Police officials said statements of the concerned individuals would be recorded as part of the investigation.
The case has been registered at Bhosari Police Station under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
TCS says it is cooperating with authorities
Responding to the allegations, TCS expressed grief over the employee’s death and said it was extending support to the family.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague, Amit Brahme. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time,” said the company in a statement.
“The wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance to us and we are extending all support to the bereaved family. We have also taken note of the allegations against the two employees and are ascertaining the facts. Complete cooperation is being extended to relevant authorities as they continue their investigation.”
The company said it would not comment further because the matter remains under investigation and reiterated its commitment to maintaining a respectful and supportive workplace.
