PPL locals warn of stir if school closed

DAV public school

PPL Local Parents Committee led by Sriballav Kar decried the attempt by the fertilizer company to close the Odia medium DAV public school here and said the local people will resort to agitation if this is done. PPL management proposed both English and Odia medium public school in its premises to render quality education to the children of PPL employees, workers and the outsiders.

Accordingly, DAV, DPS, Chinmoy Mission were contacted while DPS proposed only run English medium school while Chinmoy Mission for Odia medium school so PPL management requested the DAV authority to run both English and Odia medium school. An agreement was signed on 1st February 1988 for a period of 30 years with DAV.

Both the schools were set up in 1988 as per all India syllabus for the secondary and senior secondary classes for 10 plus 2 pattern of the CBSE, New Delhi. On 6 March 2017 a meeting exclusively for the sake of further agreement in the month of May 2017 was held and DAV authority was asked to prepare a draft note and submit it to PPL management for perusal.

Accordingly, a draft copy of the proposed agreement for renewal was submitted within seven days of the meeting. Due to some circumstances the meeting was not held on last May 2017. DAV authorities denied the recent charge that they were not willing to run the Odia medium school.

They disclosed that at a meeting on 17 January the management committee chairman cum chief operating officer of Paradip Phosphates Limited had expressed his reluctance to continue running the Odia medium school in PPL premises During the first week of this month authorities of another public school visited PPL DAV campus alongwith PPL authorities.

Interestingly anonymous leaflets were also distributed tarnishing the image of the teaching staff and the principal. Students from five panchyats Paradeep Garh, Bhutmundei, Kothi, Bagadia, Nuagarh and Paradeep Munciplaity are studying here. Mr Kar alleged the authority of PPL’s clarification to media persons stating that it had no intention to close Odia medium school is false.

The allegation by PPL regarding non-submission of road map by DAV etc are also false, he said. Meanwhile, organising secretary of this committee Mr Subrat Mohapatra, sarpanch of Paradeepgarh Mr Mihir Kumar Sahu and others have severed an ultimatum to PPL to resolve the matter or face agitation.
