An FIR based on the complaint by Chauhan’s family was lodged, an official said.

A police team has visited the crime scene. The staff and fellow students were also being questioned to find details about the last minutes of the girl’s life.

The family has claimed that during her final moments, Chauhan told her brother that someone pushed her from behind when she was coming out of the school toilet on the third floor.

The District Magistrate has also formed a team to probe the incident. It comprises of a sub-divisional magistrate, the Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) and the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS).

It has been asked to submit a report at the earliest.

Questions have been raised about the location of the toilet being on the top floor of the co-ed school. There were also unconfirmed reports that the girl was being stalked by a boy for the past few weeks.
