The Delhi Police on Friday arrested a pilot working for a private airline for allegedly attempting to secretly record a woman with a hidden camera at Shani Bazar in southwest Delhi, officials said.
The victim raised an alarm after noticing that the accused, Priyadarshi, a 31-year-old man, was filming her in the market in Kishangarh village on Saturday.
“The accused was allegedly using a lighter-shaped spy camera to film videos of unsuspecting women,” Amit Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said.
Based on the statement of the victim, a case was registered under sections 77 (voyeurism) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kishangarh police station, and investigation was taken up.
During the investigation into the case, the officer said, the CCTV footage from the vicinity was meticulously analysed and found the complainant’s image surfacing across all police networks.
With the help of local intelligence and secret informers, Priyadarshi’s location was zeroed down and the team got its hands on him.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to having recorded women without their consent.
“A hidden spy camera was also confiscated from his possession,” DCP Goel said, adding to his statement that further investigation into the case is underway.
