Pathankot on high alert as local spots ‘suspicious’ men carrying weapons

Pathankot was put on high alert on Wednesday after there were reports of suspicious movement in the area.

According to media reports, a local resident reported on Wednesday that he witnessed two people in Army uniform who had weapons with them near the Indian Air Force station. It is the same air base that was attacked by terrorists in 2016.

Following the reports of suspicious movement, security in Pathankot was heightened.

SPS Parmar, IG Border Zone has said reports of suspicious movement being detected have been coming in for the last 3-4 days, but nothing has been found as of now.

The police have put up the barricades and security drills are being conducted. Some media reports indicate that the suspicious men hijacked a Maruti Suzuki Alto, which they left in the middle of a road. The owner of the car informed police after his car following which the high alert was issued.
