After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted on social media about toxic air, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Friday said that the people of the national capital fully understand that the recurring pollution crisis is the result of the failure of previous AAP and Congress governments to take timely, concrete measures. He added that neither government conducted a long-term study to identify the main causes of pollution.

Sachdeva said that today, Rahul Gandhi posted on social media expressing concern over pollution after meeting people, while a few days earlier, AAP leaders had also begun political statements on pollution under the pretext of meeting a similar delegation of people.

Sachdeva claimed that residents of Delhi are shocked by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s statements on pollution, and want to ask him what concrete measures his government took during their decade-long rule, when pollution levels kept worsening.

He said that the difference between the previous AAP regime and the present BJP government is clearly visible in the ongoing fight against pollution.

According to the BJP leader, while the AQI levels in November and December worsened every year during the past decade, he claimed that this year, due to the efforts of the present dispensation, the index values have been lower in the month of November, as compared to the previous year.

Sachdeva alleged that being disturbed by the improvement in pollution levels this year compared to earlier years, AAP leaders are now making baseless allegations that the BJP government is manipulating AQI data.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has said that AAP leader Kejriwal is now suddenly raising the issue of GST on air purifiers, but while being in power, he was involved in alleged scams in the name of installing smog towers.
