As the national capital is gearing up for an integrated transit corridor development and street network connectivity, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma on Thursday reviewed the progress of the pre-feasibility report (preliminary feasibility).
The development is part of Delhi’s flyover zone.
The minister held a meeting with officials of RITES limited at the Delhi secretariat. Sharing minutes of the review meeting on the social media platform X, he informed that instructions were issued for the completion of the design work for flyovers, underpasses, Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), and the other grade-separated structures in a time-bound manner in accordance with the standards of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
The aim of the development of the infrastructure is to make Delhi’s traffic system more convenient and modern, the minister has said.
Notably, the Delhi government is committed to improving the traffic conditions and ensuring a smooth commute with enhanced connectivity with focus on the last-mile reach.
Be it addressing the traffic bottlenecks, enhancing travel safety, or reducing travel time, all such factors are on the to do list, increasing the pace of Delhi’s development and supporting the economy in keeping with the interest of the citizens on priority.
Earlier, the government had approved projects like construction of new flyovers and also a dedicated road corridor alongside the Sahibi River (Najafgarh drain), from South West Delhi’s Dhansa to Basai Darapur in West Delhi, which is expected to ease traffic movement and also improve connectivity.
Additionally, moving ahead with a vision of a modern and decongested city, some major roads, that were previously under the PWD, had been officially handed over to NHAI for better management, expansion, and maintenance.
Earlier, a UT-Level Coordination Committee, had also been formed to improve inter-agency coordination, and expedite key road infrastructure projects.
