Chairman of the Board of Administrators for the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), Anit Thapa, yesterday unveiled the ‘Pahariya Bhawan’ constructed by the North Bengal Development Department (NBDD) at Matigara in Siliguri. The building will be helpful for people from the Hills who often visit Siliguri for various purposes.

The building has 13 double bedrooms, a kitchen and dining space, eight air-conditioned rooms and other facilities. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had inaugurated the bhawan earlier in February this year.

“The Bhawan will be a great help for people in the Hills, especially students, who have to travel frequently for job-related issues and for their career issues. This Bhawan is a gift by Miss Banerjee to the people in the Hills, and we appeal to the people to maintain it well,” said Mr Thapa.
