Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday assured the government officials that she stands firmly with them in their correct decisions and announced the launch of an annual awards programme to encourage excellence in governance.

According to the chief minister, officers and departments delivering exemplary performance in their respective fields will be honoured every year under categories such as Best Engineer, Best Department, Best SDM, and Best DM.

Gupta held a high-level meeting with district magistrates, sub-divisional magistrates, sub-registrars and other officials of the Revenue Department, where she mentioned that the officials must work with honesty, public interest, and transparency, adding that the government’s image is determined by own conduct.

She appreciated the efforts of the officials, stating that during the Kanwar Yatra and floods, they had demonstrated remarkable commitment and set an example. She also expressed the hope that such kind of work would continue in the future as well.

The meeting, held at the Delhi Secretariat, was attended by Chief Secretary Dharmendra, Divisional Commissioner Neeraj Semwal, and other senior officials.

During the meeting, Gupta also outlined her government’s priorities, stressing that rapid efforts are required to transform the capital into a truly ‘Viksit Delhi’.

She emphasised that administrative systems are being strengthened in close coordination with officers.

Gupta praised those who worked round-the-clock to manage flood emergencies and the Kanwar Yatra, commending in particular the Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrates Chaitanya, Amol Srivastava, and G. Sudhakar.

She said the upcoming public events such as Ramleela and Durga Puja should be managed through a single-window system, similar to the arrangements during the Kanwar Yatra, ensuring that the public faces no inconvenience. All necessary permissions be issued in a time-bound manner, and stressed that full responsibility must be taken for security, healthcare, sanitation, and traffic management.

Gupta further stated that there must be zero encroachment on government land in the capital, and instructed officials to take concrete measures to remove illegal occupations, construct boundary walls, and prevent any future encroachments.

She reminded officers that their conduct is a direct reflection on the government’s integrity and credibility, while negligence invites criticism.

Additionally, she directed the officials to prepare a list of farmers whose crops were damaged by the floods so that they may receive appropriate compensation from the government.

The CM highlighted the national importance of the ‘One District, One Product’ campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting its impact across the country.

She directed the officials to identify the unique products and specialities of each district in Delhi for effective marketing and branding, and instructed that reports on this initiative be submitted.
