Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Sandhu on Saturday held an interactive session with the Vice-Chancellor and the leadership of Maharshi Dayanand University and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, during which they discussed emerging technologies and the importance of integrating them into problem-solving across various sectors.
Sandhu emphasised the need to proactively prepare the country’s youth for the future by equipping them with advanced technological knowledge, innovation-driven thinking and future-ready skills.
He said that as technology continues to reshape the global landscape, educational institutions must serve as catalysts for excellence, research and innovation, empowering the next generation to lead with confidence and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Later, the Lieutenant Governor visited Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in Rohtak, Haryana, and highlighted the shrine’s profound historical and spiritual significance, particularly its association with the Ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Sandhu noted that the gurdwara is deeply intertwined with the history of Delhi, recalling that Guru Tegh Bahadur stayed there for a few days during his final journey from Jind to Delhi.
Reflecting on the significance of that journey, the Lieutenant Governor said Guru Tegh Bahadur travelled to Delhi to make the supreme sacrifice (Shahadat) in defence of the religious freedom of Kashmiri Pandits in the face of persecution.
Sandhu said the Guru’s unparalleled courage and martyrdom forever sanctified the soil of Delhi, leaving behind an enduring legacy of humanity, righteousness and self-sacrifice that continues to inspire the nation.
The Lieutenant Governor paid rich tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur, saying his timeless teachings on protecting the oppressed and upholding the principles of Dharma remain a constant source of inspiration for all citizens. He also offered prayers for the continued peace, harmony and prosperity of the nation and the people of Delhi.
