A visibly tired Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik disappointed the huge gathering at what was billed as a mega political event with the ruling BJD virtually sweeping away the Congress here by inducting heavyweights of the party.

Former Union minister Chandrashekhar Sahu, AICC member and youth leader Bikram Panda, district Congress chief Bhagaban Gantayat joined the BJD on Wednesday and the major induction meeting was held.

While Chandrashekar Sahu said he was disillusioned after serving the Congress for four decades, the string of ruling BJD Ministers on the dias delivered speeches attacking the BJP and highlighting achievements of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The development agenda of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has attracted everyone and many more people of different parties will join the BJD, said the Ministers.

Sahu showered praise on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik describing him as Vikas Purush and the number one chief minister in the country. But Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who spoke the last left the entire crowd baffled.

He started his speech on land distribution to the poor in Ganjam district. The Chief Minister went on to speak a few more sentences welcoming Sahu, Panda and other Congress leaders who joined the BJD. Earlier during the day the Chief Minister visited Paralakhemundi and Hinjili to inaugurate several projects.
