As part of his efforts to reach out to leaders of a slew of Opposition parties during his current visit to the national capital, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu met his Delhi counterpart and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday.

Kejriwal called on Naidu at Andhra Bhavan here during which they discussed the TDP’s pitch for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh ~ a demand over which the TDP recently walked out of the ruling BJP-led NDA alliance which had declined to concede it.

Naidu’s meeting with Kejriwal came as part of his bids to mobilise support for the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP against the Narendra Modi government in the Lok Sabha.

TDP’s Rajya Sabha MP C M Ramesh reportedly said that Kejriwal had assured Naidu of his party’s support to the TDP in both Houses of Parliament. The AAP has four MPs in the Lok Sabha and three in the Rajya Sabha.

The AP CM, who arrived here on Tuesday on a two-day visit, has met leaders from different political parties so far. He yesterday met the NCP president Sharad Pawar, NC chief Farooq Abdullah, Congress leaders including Jyotiraditya Scindia and Veerappa Moily, TMC leaders including Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Derek O’Brien, CPI’s D Raja and other Left leaders, AIADMK’s V Maitreyan, and SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav.

Naidu also met BJP’s allies and Union Ministers including Akali Dal’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Apna Dal’s Anupriya Patel. He reportedly asserted that regional parties should join hands with the TDP to raise concerns over the “injustice” meted out by the Modi government to the Opposition-ruled states.
