Security at the state secretariat was beefed up on Friday with installation of 244 CCTVs within and outside Nabanna.

Presently, there are 150 CCTVs in Nabanna. These cameras are being installed in all corridors of the 14-floor building along with entrances, exits and the roads adjoining the building.

The area both within and adjacent Nabanna, have already been brought under CCTV coverage and cameras were particularly installed for monitoring the entry and exit routes of chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Now, more such cameras are being set up for closely monitoring the visitors who enter and leave the state secretariat as well as their movement.

Officials of Nabanna termed this as a routine exercise but the move to enhance security in phases was taken by the government ever since the Left Front members reached the gate of the state secretariat as part of ‘Nabana Abhijan’ a year ago.

Metal detector frames have been fixed on all gates that lead to Miss Banerjee’s chamber. In fact, a host of metal detectors have been installed on the entire stretch on the 13th and 14th floor that house chambers of Miss Banerjee, finance minister Amit Mitra, chief secretary, home secretary, director general of police and CMO. Alongside armed police personnel have been posted there.

Police dogs take several rounds of the entire building when Miss Banerjee remains in office.

Meanwhile, Miss Banerjee will hold an administrative review meeting on 8 May.

The meeting will be held at Nabanna Sabhaghar and all ministers, bureaucrats and senior police officials would attend it.

Apart from taking stock of the progress of ongoing schemes and work, Miss Banerjee will enquire about the areas where work have been delayed as well as discuss reasons behind it.

In the last such meeting in September 2017, Miss Banerjee had directed officials to ensure that workers do not halt due to polls. She will also set up a plan of work for the next six months.
