Mukul slams ‘futile’ biz summits

Mukul Roy.

BJP leader Mukul Roy on Thursday came down heavily on the ruling Trinamul Congress for frequently organizing business summits in the state.

Mr Roy, accompanied by Alipurduar district president of the BJP, Ganga Prasad Sharma, state leaders Subrata Chattopadhya, Pratap Bandhapadhya and around 500 leaders of the BJP from the three district of north Bengal–Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri- -attended a workshop here on Thursday on ‘strategies to fight the coming panchayat elections.’

“Five business summits have been held in Kolkata after Mamata Banerjee took charge as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. However, no new industries have come up in the state. What are the results of the summits?” questioned Mr Roy.

“We demand the government publish white papers of the business summits. The expenses and outputs of these summits must be in white papers,” he said.

Slamming the policies of the state government, he referred to the very recent business summit in Darjeeling as a ‘new drama.’ “Industrialists are not BJP workers. Mamata cannot pull them by police force,” Mr Roy added.

Regarding the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha issue, the BJP leader said, “Our alliance with all the parties, including the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha, is still strong. We will fight the upcoming panchayat elections keeping these alliances in mind. Our candidates will file nominations in all the seats in the three-tier panchayat elections in Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri districts.”
