Uncertainty over the J&K Pradesh Congress chief GA Mir continuing to hold the post has been cleared with the Congress president Rahul Gandhi giving him another lease of life.
Mir had replaced Saifuddin Soz in March 2015. Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi has, in a communication, said that Rahul Gandhi has taken the decision that all PCC chiefs shall continue on their posts after the organisational elections also unless any decision is taken to replace them.
Mir has to his credit rejuvenation of the Congress in J&K where the party was in power in alliance with the National Conference prior to 2015.

He was the Congress candidate for the by-election for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat but the election was recently put off because of the security problem in South Kashmir.
