Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Unified Command consisting of the Army, CRPF, BSF, J&K police, Intelligence Bureau and various other security and intelligence agencies to review the security matters of the state.

Although details of the meetings were awaited at the time of filing the report, but Mehbooba on her Twitter handle wrote: “Chaired the Unified High Command meeting related to security matters of the state”.
She also shared three pictures of the military, BSF, CRPF, state police and other officers participating in the meeting at her official residence here.

The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of some terrorist outfits threatening that acid would be poured in eyes of those who participate in the coming Panchayat elections in the state. This is the first meeting of the unified command after the J&K government granted amnesty to those who pelted stones at security forces in the valley.

A couple of civilians pelting stones to obstruct the security forces during encounters with terrorists were killed in cross fire. However, the opposition parties and the separatists accused the security forces of having killed “innocent” people.

Mehbooba had asked the security forces to exercise restraint during such protests by civilians.Deputy chief minister, Nirmal Singh and top brass of the army, BSF, CRPF, police and intelligence agencies were among those who attended the meeting.
