Martyred soldier laid to rest with full military honours

The last rites of Havaldar Joravar Singh, who was martyred during an encounter with militants in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on 21 March, were performed with full military honours at his native Rait village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

He was posted with 160 Infantry Battalion of the Territorial Army in Kupwara district of J-K and was among the five Jawans, three soldiers and two policemen who attained martyrdom during counter insurgency operations on Wednesday.

“I am proud of my son. He made a supreme sacrifice for the whole nation,” said Raj Singh, Joravar Singh’s father.

Singh is survived by wife, two daughters, Haritika, Kritika and a son,
Rudransh.

The soldier’s elder brother had already died in a car accident and younger brother works in private sector.

Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also paid tribute to martyr soldiers said the brave soldier of HP has made supreme sacrifice for the country.

Governor and CM prayed the Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.

“The valiant soldiers of the state have always fought for the security of the nation and have made the state proud. The country and state would never forget the ultimate sacrifice of Havildar Jorawar Singh in the line of duty,” they said.
