Maoist killed by security forces in Jharkhand

Security forces shot dead a Maoist guerrilla in Jharkhand’s Latehar district on Thursday, police said.

The Maoist was identified as Guddu Yadav of Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP).

After getting information about a clash between two Maoist groups, police reached Jer village.

On seeing the police, JJMP Maoists started firing at them. The police retaliated, killing the Maoist commander. An AK-47 and eight other rifles were seized from the site.

Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of Jharkhand.
