People in droves thronged the 27th Mango Mela at Pinjore Gardens on Sunday as the event reached its last day. The day began with battery of schoolchildren lining up to participate in a flurry of colourful competitions including drawing, mango eating and group dance.
The group dance competitions had students perform folk dances and also danced on popular Bollywood numbers. These high-voltage dance performances added verve to the Mela.
Meanwhile, the folk artists kept the spirits of mela high and the visitors enthralled with their songs and gyrating moves at different terraces of the majestic Pinjore Gardens.

Haryana Tourism had specially invited senior citizens from registered societies for the event, who thoroughly enjoyed the Mela. Mango eating competition saw enthusiastic participation by young and old equally. The competition required eating maximum mangoes in a given time.
The Kids Fancy Dress competition won many hearts as tiny tots in the age group of 3-5 years dressed in the most creative ways etc, strutted on the stage. The mango display area was packed the whole day with thousands of visitors catching a glimpse of various varieties of mango andpurchasing them.
The managing director, Haryana Tourism Corporation, Vikas Yadav, informed that this year the Mango Mela has been celebrated on a grand scale and best efforts have been made to provide facilities to both performers and visitors.
The response to the mela has been immense and we hope that the mela reaches greater heights of success in the coming years. Usman from Sharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a mango grower and exporter, stated ‘this event is a wonderful platform for mango growers.
